Nashville Linux Users Group
The purpose of the Nashville Linux Users Group (NLUG) is the promotion of, and contribution to, the computer operating system commonly known as
Linux, both within the organisation and to the persons of the city of Nashville and its environs.
A
Linux User Group is a private, generally non-profit or not-for-profit organization that provides support and/or education for Linux users. The term commonly refers to local groups that meet in person, but is also used to refer to online support groups that may have members spread over a very wide area and which do not organise, or which are not based around, physical meetings.

Jack found that 12.04 wouldn't install on his Dell Latitude D600 (i855PM cpu). The CPU doesn't have the 'pde' option in the hardware, and all the latest 'standard' distribution are compiled requiring this option. This made Jack grumpier than usual!
-
A discussion came up about 'history' of NLUG. If someone has a history they can put together, please pass it on. It would be greatly appreciated.
Tuesday, April 10, 2012 - Monthly Meeting

Many folks signed up to provide presentations over the next year. This was a great kickoff for new efforts for the next year!
Tuesday, March 13, 2012 - Monthly Meeting
-
Andrew McElroy did the presentation on processes, using screen and disown - neat to learn about such things even if internals aren't your thing!
-
Andrew also broached the subject at the meeting and later on the NLUG mailing list about the "NLUG organizational status". An interesting discussion followed, but no decisions were made. We do need to do a state filing each year if we are going to be an 'official entity' rather than a herd of geeks.
-
Nominations for officers are in April, Elections in May. For all you power hungry controlling megalomaniacs here is your chance for your start at "World Domination". Self nomination is accepted. Main officers are President, VP, Treasurer/Secretary. I may have forgotten some (or blocked it out of my mind!)
